Be In Gratitude, Be a Blessing Magnet

by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

Do you consider yourself as blessed? Someone who is truly blessed is not one who has all the material worldly possessions but a person who feels in gratitude for even the smallest things happening in his life.

“The Secret”, Law of Attraction book states that “thoughts become things.” This principle believes that whatever we always think of will manifest soon in our lives. And it also teaches us that being thankful for everything in every waking hour will help us attract wonderful things. Those who are authentically happy are also thankful people. They find peace and contentment in seeing the beauty in anything they lay their eyes on. These individuals even believe that troubles are blessings in disguise and are meant to spice up their journey.

Have you ever wondered why some people who lack material things and money seem to be contented and at peace with themselves compared to those who possess big bank accounts and can afford every luxury you can think of? Simply because these kind of people are thankful and happy people. They are always thankful for the small shelter God gifted them with: with the simple food they have on their tables, and are even more thankful that their families are intact, safe, and healthy despite of their circumstances.

Positive people are the ones who value the amazing things being always in gratitude even in the midst of adversities. They are the ones who still thrive to hold on and maintain a strong faith even if the odds are against them. Having a positive perspective in life, they still know when to hold on and when it’s time to let go.

If only all of us would realize how wonderful it is to have a thankful attitude all the time, we will discover that beautiful things will start manifesting in our lives more than we can imagine.

In alignment with the Universe means embracing and appreciating the beauty of everything that surrounds us. Upon waking up in the morning, make it a habit to say thanks that you’re still breathing, be thankful for your life, and appreciate your journey.

Be in gratitude, be a blessing magnet. I know some friends who have finally seen the Light and they have one thing in common- always in gratitude. I have witnessed how amazing things unfolded in their lives just because they remain to be thankful each time.

If you want to be blessed in all areas of your lives, start being thankful for every little thing around you- look up in the sky and be thankful for eyes that can see such magnificent beauty. Be thankful that you were born to experience this wonderful pilgrimage called “Life”. Be in gratitude that as a pilgrim, you were given the chance to create a better version of yourself and also be a blessing to others.

The Best Version of Ourselves

by Elizabeth

Esguerra Castillo

“The journey between what you were once and who you are now becoming is where the dance of life really takes place.”- Barbara D’Angelis

Love should inspire us, not break us. Before we can commit ourselves to other people, we must authentically love and embrace ourselves fully, flaws and all. We can not fully give love to someone if we haven’t learned how to totally love ourselves. First and foremost, who else will?

Loving thyself goes way beyond the physical and material aspects of what we are capable of giving ourselves. It’s not just lavishing ourselves with luxuries and beautifying our bodies. It’s more than just valuing aesthetics, it’s far more important than having the riches of the world to be able to tell yourself you are happy when deep inside you are not. For these things are just shallow, mundane things – temporary and don’t last.

Life’s lessons test our will and faith. Being hurt is inevitable once we decide to love. Sad as it may seem, vicious as it may sound; this is the reality we have to face. But after having our hearts broken, like any other adversities or trials that befall us, we should emerge as stronger people. Trials are not just there to merely break us all the time but to bend us towards God and ourselves for complete healing can just be found within inside of us. We heal ourselves.

After the storm has passed, you should emerge as a new person, ready to face the world once more, leaving the past behind and looking forward to a brighter future ahead waiting for you at the other end of the tunnel. You’re not the same person like you were before, for you have chosen to finally come out of your shell, freedom is yours to conquer! You have entered your own metamorphosis, from being caged inside a delicate cocoon, waiting for the sunlight and the proper time to breathe into life, until one fine day, you finally come out to see the world in all its beauty and splendor as a full-grown, gorgeous butterfly!

The butterfly symbolizes “awakening”, new beginnings, new life, changing into the best version of itself captivating hearts, inspiring many. If the butterfly is not hesitant to roam around from flower to flower, you too can create the best version of yourself and conquer the world! It didn’t choose to remain within its comfort zone; it went out of its way to change the course of its life.

Happiness and contentment is a state of mind. Choose to be happy, choose to inspire, choose to embrace and share what is lovable about you. Discover your passion, live your dreams. How do you love yourself? Are you creating the best version of yourself right now?

The Beauty in Silence

by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

Silence. Sometimes mere stillness and silence speak louder than uttering nonsense words. It is through silence that we can discover much about ourselves and think deeper about what is truly happening in our world. In our modern lives nowadays, we are so caught up in a hurried and fast-paced environment that most of the time, we forget to reflect on things – things that really do matter to us and our loved-ones.

What is the beauty in silence? It’s in silence that we can ponder on who truly we are and what is our true purpose on Earth. We may be caught up in circles all our lives asking ourselves where we truly belong and what is our real calling. Some take years and years to finally discover their mission in this world while others reach even their twilight years not yet knowing what is their place, their niche in this one big stage we all act in. Some can find themselves always wandering to and fro, from one place to another trying to search for true meaning and authentic happiness  not being aware that in order to find themselves, they must first step back and immerse themselves in “deep and sincere silence”. Silence is not threatening. We can learn a lot from being quiet sometimes. Actually, “real silence” is quite deafening for in your solitary moment, you can find the answers to all your questions if you just dig deeper within yourself. The answers will come to you at a time you are least expecting it.

How do we obtain silence in our present modern world? We need not necessarily go to a secluded island to gain peace and tranquility. Real silence can be found in our hearts. Silence in our hearts is what we all need to be able to let the ray of calmness in our soul reign amidst this chaotic world we live in. We can be just inside the four corners of a room and let our mind wander to a place we want to be. Like for example a serene beach with warm, white sand touching our feet as we walk along the shoreline with only the rhythmic sound of the waves and the chirping birds above as our background.

Silence. Silence teaches a lot about ourselves and makes us think about vital things that plague our thoughts, that consume our souls. We can discover much in solitude than being around a much noisier and crowded place. In mere silence, there is a loud thunder that can be heard from inside of us.

The thunder in silence. They say "quiet waters run deep" and that proves to be true. It is in silence that we discover the real storm which is locked within us all this time waiting to escape and when it finally finds the strength to come out, you will realize your Higher Calling, your Higher Purpose. That is the beauty of silence- so much can be discovered, so much can be learned, so much can be transformed.

Believe in Yourself and Let Your Dreams Manifest

by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

Our own thoughts of ourselves can manifest in reality. Enough belief in one’s self is a strong motivating factor to achieve our far-fetched dreams before. If you want your dreams to be a reality, first BELIEVE that it will eventually happen.

Your desires should coincide with your beliefs in order for your dreams to manifest in your life. Being always a positive person or a tough-minded optimist can work wonders in your life.

Having BELIEF IN YOURSELF is a great factor to be able to neutralize any kind of negative thoughts you harbor on your mind or any pessimistic statements being thrown at you by other people. You have within you the innate power to let your thoughts materialize into reality. Always tell yourself that YOU CAN DO IT!

Make your DREAMS into a reality by believing you can. You are capable of doing things and the possibilities are just infinite. In order to attain your much-coveted dreams, you must first be determined to make them happen.

Trust is necessary to instill belief in everything you want to happen in your life. They say, once trust is broken, it would be hard to regain it. Betrayal can be the worst thing to happen to someone since it can cloud your judgments and change your perspective of the future. It can leave you feeling negative of other people’s motives in being close to you and can impact your relationships both personal and professional.

There must be a solid foundation in order to build up trust and one must be able to embrace the advantages of letting things flow and just go if the situation calls for it. When someone betrays your trust, it is important to refocus on things that should be prioritized in your life.

Emotions play a pivotal role in our motivation to do things. In order to make our dreams a reality, we must have the determination to succeed and a driving force to push us to attain our goals. We are driven by our emotions to make important decisions which at some point of our lives go beyond our comfort zone. Moving out of our comfort zone can be frightening at first but it can ignite the creativity out of us and we can discover the potentials we have in order to make our dreams a reality.

Your heart’s deepest desire should reflect whatever you put into action. Thus, positive vibration produces only positive results.

Dreams start as a vision – intangible until you take the necessary actions to put them into reality.

DREAM CONTROL is simply turning your dreams into reality by pushing yourself towards the right direction in fulfilling them.

True self-fulfillment is not just in the form of monetary rewards, luxuries or other tangible things. Real self-fulfillment comes when you are in gratitude for all the contributions you bestowed to society, and how you have somehow touched and moved the lives of other people.

You don’t need to have everything to feel totally fulfilled – you have to be HAPPY in whatever you’re doing.

There are people who don’t let their setbacks in life prevent them from being unhappy. They still feel fulfilled despite of many things lacking in the different areas of their lives.

We must also remember that OUR PAST DOESN’T DEFINE OUR FUTURE.

Decision-making is a vital part of everyday living. And whether we need to decide on smaller or bigger things, it can have a huge impact in our lives. Making a wrong decision they say is way better than being indecisive over things.

If one possesses the right emotions or attitudes, different barriers like time, finances, skills, or intelligence will not matter much to achieve his dreams. All these factors must be taken into consideration but having the right attitude and determination can help you attain any goal you have set.

Living your Life’s Purpose

By Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

“You have a purpose, and some part of you has always been searching for it. When you find it, and live it, life gets going.” – Sue Fitzmaurice

Have you ever asked yourself if you are really living your life’s purpose? At some point in our lives, we may feel lost, without a sure direction or which path to take. There comes a time one feels this emptiness within himself, a gap that needs to be filled up but then life sometimes  appear meaningless to some. If you are asked a question like “Have you found your mission in life?” What do you usually answer? If you finally found the fire, start igniting it and the flame that it will create will produce the happiness that you want to attain all your life.

Everyone has a definite purpose on Earth, long before he was born. It’s written in the stars and your palms, your fate and destiny – your calling, your life’s mission. Each of us were also born with God-given gifts which are meant to be nourished and be honed to be able to share them later on with the world. I feel surprised when some people tell me they don’t have talents at all. I believe we all do have gifts, some are not able to discover theirs yet and/or having this fear of being rejected or have this fear of failure. Even if it’s just plain cooking, it is pure talent in itself, we do not just fit in one particular box what we can call “talent” or “gift” or those that we cannot include.

Take a closer look at those happy people – those who are authentically happy. What is the common denominator among them? Besides the shallow material things that man possesses, there are much more necessary things that can make him truly happy and that is discovering his place on Earth – his life’s purpose! That intangible thing that is priceless and most valuable than all the richest in the world – fulfilling your mission.

If you discovered your one true calling, only then you can tell yourself that, yes! I have found my niche in this world!

The Age Excusitis Syndrome

By Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

Get a hold of your life right now. Yes, right now! You say time is running out, slipping through your fingers  like fine dusts but then what are you merely doing? Procrastinating over things you could do in the NOW, holding back yourself - waiting for the right time 'til your age catches up on you . Then again, you make awesome, out of this world  EXCUSES - that you are already old  for such things, that you can't have the stamina to engage in this and that activity.

"Age excusitis" a term used to refer to an alibi to postpone in attaining a dream or goal because of one's "age" as used by David Schwartz, the author of "The Magic Of Thinking Big." Each one of us have our own elusive dreams in life that we always wanted to achieve but then at times, we should blame our own selves too, why we never quite get around doing them - we simply avoid taking risks, some would rather play it safe and even tell themselves, "I can't do it!" without even giving themselves a first try.

This syndrome can be magnified in various aspects of one's life be it in one's career shift, going on an adventure travel, getting the body one is obsessing about, going back to school and even FALLING IN LOVE (ever heard of "we are neither too young or too old to fall in love" ?).  According to Schwartz, at certain points of our lives, we tend to buy into that idea that we are either too old or it is too late to do something different other than staying put in our own comfort zone. And it's not just age but as well as social norms  and other's perception of what our role in life should be that may influence our decisions.

NOTHING SHOULD STOP YOU FROM CHASING A DREAM. There is simply no age limit to go to the direction  that you've always wanted. We can always reinvent ourselves and life has such an array of wide possibilities we can embark on. Part of us has this ageless mind ( no form no boundaries, no beginnings, no endings) that is beyond the physical aging process that is readily available if only we encourage ourselves to go and chase our own rainbows!

So whether you are in your 20's , 30's  or pushing 40's or even beyond, you can jump-start on your new life ASAP! Maybe to some, they have unattainable dreams while they were still youngsters that even if they're grown older, they've made a pact ( like a business plan service) with themselves to fulfill them so they wouldn't have haunting regrets in their twilight years. While some start early in life reaching for their pots of gold, others are quite late bloomers but what matters is you gave yourself a chance to take on challenges in making your dreams come true.

Loving the Imperfect

By Elizabeth E. Castillo

This entry is inspired by Sam Keen's, author of Fire in the Belly, infamous quote "You come to love not by finding a perfect person but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly!".

I chanced about a video posted on one social networking site of a funeral ceremony (this might sound absurd), how the wife of the deceased in  what seems to be a eulogy far different from the usual ones we hear and witness, described her "imperfect relationship" with her husband. The fights they had, the petty indifferences and perennial arguments; his disgusting ways but in the end she said that she had come to love him more despite of these imperfections. For he taught her how it is to truly accept and love a person authentically.

Maybe this goes hand in hand with what we call loving unconditionally. We do not just love the person merely because of his good qualities but as well as his frailties and obnoxious ways.

Sticking by your significant other even after seeing him go through his worst state could well be a sign of real love and commitment. No one was born perfect in this world and so one may find his/her "ideal girl/boy" in the shadow of someone but as time goes by, they would truly discover each other's quirks and annoying habits. We must then ask ourselves if we can tolerate or hold on to such indifferences long after the all-mushy honeymoon stage is over.

A couple must work through a relationship's varied turmoils, turbulence, disputes, dilemmas, detours in their otherwise wondrous if not a romance in utopia.

God created us humans with complex personalities so each individual is born unique with innate craziness and irksome habits. Head on collisions between couples, like a grill sand in their relationship may promise exquisite pearls of traits such as PATIENCE, PERSEVERANCE and PEACE. No relationship is perfect either and like a tandem bicycle in a box, each is left unassembled. The couple involved must work on it as a "team" despite each other's foibles.

Let me end up this post with another quote now from Jane Austen: "Perhaps it is our imperfections that make us so perfect for each other."

We Are But Pilgrims In This World

By Elizabeth E. Castillo

Have you ever asked yourself what's the purpose of your mere existence in this world? Have you ever wondered what's your true mission in this life? Life starts at your conception inside your mother's womb a wondrous miracle , life springs out of another being then comes the day you were born and your mom hears your very first cry as tears well up her eyes upon seeing your little countenance and fragile cute fingers. It is said that each and everyone of us have our own purposes here on earth - be it to touch other people's lives, to inspire others through your words or worthy causes organized; to love and be loved, to dance like there's no tomorrow; to weep and experience pain... all our paths are intertwining and in every step of the way through our journey, we meet at the crossroads...we are all connected in some ways...what one says or does affects or influences people around him.

Life is a journey - sometimes a short one and can be a long ride too...like pilgrims we travel through life's highways crossroads meeting at some point in time, must part at the corners as we meet other people again. This cycle goes on and on ‘til we reach our final destination.

Life is a constant change too..life is composed of different seasons, each one having distinct characteristics that we may either enjoy or hate...our pilgrimage  through our entire lives entitles us to experience the joys and sorrows this world of us brings. A season of happiness - feeling as if you're on top of the world not mindful of those around you for you wanna feel that once in your life then suddenly without any clue, a season of grief, surmountable sadness - loss of a lover, family, a friend or loss of a precious job, your bread and butter...your whole world then suddenly collapses before you, as if the heavens closed its gate behind you and you were left stranded and helpless in a deserted island, a dark and lonely place...

Yes, it's hard to cope up with any loss especially if they mean everything to you...as the pilgrim goes through his journey, he might lose a thing or two along the way but must move on and carry on his travel and tell himself my time has come and  finally reached my abode! These experiences taught me how to be a stronger pilgrim - to battle life's up and downs, to face any obstacle that would dare keep me from reaching to my own sacred place, also throw away the excess baggage or use a free online storage to dump them there ...til then my pilgrimage has just begun...

Love Always Wins by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

Love truly heals. Everything that’s being touched by LOVE emerges as something genuine, precious and stunning. Money is not that which makes the world goes round but LOVE!

With love, we are always winners in this game called life. We can never be defeated with love as our talisman from a cruel world which tries to divide us all.

Love makes us all winners for once we give in to its call; all negativities will be cast away. Imagine a world where hatred is the only one that reigns. Will you still be able to get a glimpse of the sweet smile of a fragile baby’s lips? Will you be able to get a warm embrace from your loving mother telling you that everything’s going to be alright?

Love is a universal expression why we are here on earth. The origin of humankind’s very existence. Our Master Creator made all of these things in the Universe because of LOVE!

Loving someone should not be viewed as a mere challenge for to love is a decision and not to be forced nor begged for. If we always choose love, we can win and overcome any battle we face.

Who loses because of love? No one for love itself is a winner. Love until it hurts they say. But despite the sufferings, love stands still amidst the sacrifices. The very moment we decide to love with all our heart, we become blind to every obstacle that comes our way. If our love is real and authentic, it patiently waits for the Perfect Divine Timing.

When all else fails, love remains steadfast and strong. Choose LOVE and you will always be a champion at all cause.

Love Transforms

by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

“We have been created with a purpose – to love and be loved.”

Love heals. Love transforms. Do not underestimate the power of the healing touch of LOVE upon the weak, the weary, the sick, and the hopeless. After all, isn’t love the very reason why we were created? Look at all the beautiful things surrounding us, all of these originated from LOVE – the stunning nature masterpiece, the magnificent blue skies, the enchanting flowing rivers, the majestic high mountains, and the lovely chirping birds. These are all created out of the GREATEST LOVE of the Divine!

How does love transform? If you send out loving vibrations to the Universe, you will in turn attract love in your life and love will inspire you to become a better version of yourself not just for yourself but for your beloved. We can’t change people and how they feel or think about us but love can move mountains and create miracles beyond our imagination. Feeling love in itself is a miracle from the heavens! Love is not merely an ecstatic feeling or a raging emotion. It is a commitment to stand by your beloved not just during happy times but also during times of distress.

Love transforms people. While we know we can’t force someone to change, love will be the moving element to motivate people to change for the better – to fix himself and realize just how beautiful life is by experiencing LOVE!

Love transforms lives and the world. Love should be spread to attain harmony, unity, and peace to an ailing world. Love heals the wounded heart and the broken soul.

Love is the greatest gift you can offer to someone not just to your friends but as well as to your enemies. This world would be a better place is we stop the hate and say YES to LOVE!

"I guess it's true that we can find many kinds of love in our lifetime but never the same kind of love twice. Love can be of different degrees and you can see yourself doing things for your beloved which you can't imagine doing for the others before. Yes, real love can transform you and mold you into a better person. If you could be the reason for someone else's creation of his better version and of him getting closer to God, that's one kind of love which is not just based on emotions or feelings but of commitment. Commitment that against all odds, you will stand by him."

The Waiting Game

by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo

There is a predestined time for everything here on Earth. A Perfect Divine Time for wonderful things to unfold, for flowers to blossom and for love to develop. We always hear this famous cliché: “Beautiful things happen to those who wait.” And with this in mind, patience would be a great virtue to possess during this waiting period.

Whether it is the right time to achieve our dreams, the right time to start a new business, or the right time to get involved again in a new relationship after a failed romance. Rushing things would not do us any good in any endeavor we are in for the end result would just disappoint us or would just leave us frustrated if we will not be able to gain the outcome we are expecting.

The Waiting Game. It can just be a short time or we are left to wander through years before we finally achieve what we want and while we are waiting for that beautiful moment, FAITH as well as HOPE shouldn’t leave us. Without faith and hope in our hearts, we can easily be disheartened or can get easily depressed over some failures that come our way in our journey through life.

Our lives have periods of waiting and we cannot escape these from happening. Our modern world can be described as always in the hustle bustle of daily grinds and things are always in a rush. Sometimes we can’t keep up with the highly competitive game. People these days are always in a hurry to get things done and some are quite impatient to get what they want. We are also now a time of “instants” which teaches us to have things at our disposal at the least possible time in order to do the next work in line but devalues the essence of waiting for the right time- when everything is made perfect and the outcome would be of high value.

If we are promised or assured of the best in everything, would we be patient enough to wait for them at the designated Divine Time? It pays to wait for the Perfect Time; for we are more assured of the value of that precious moment as Destiny calls us and conspires with the Universe to give us what we truly deserve in life. If it’s the Right Time for us, nothing and no one can take that away from us for it was intended to be just ours.

Preface

What does it take to be a Fearless Wordsmith? It need not necessarily mean my writings should be fierce and unruly for along with the freedom of expression goes the responsibility of the writer to communicate with his readers effectively and fairly, to be able to touch lives and make them feel they are part of the stories, poems that you compose. I consider myself as a modernist writer and poet. I have my own writing style without conforming with the traditional, much like James Joyce’s “Stream Of Consciousness” but with my own twist. I am always left amazed when my constant readers ask me: “Was this piece written for me? I can very well relate to it.” If people can very well “see” or “feel” themselves in your compositions, then you have done your job effectively! Raw and real emotions are the things that embody a good write.

I have always dreamt of becoming a writer even when I was just in my grade school days, being this once shy and quiet lass who prefers to just jot down notes rather than reciting in front of the class which makes me all jittery. I didn’t give up my dreams of becoming a published writer and it came true with the publication of my first international poetry book with a publisher from UK after winning an international competition last 2012. This is my second book and is a special collection of my works that have appeared on my blog site on Life, Love and Relationships, “Seasons and Reflections of The Muse” http://seasons-reflections-of-the-muse.blogspot.com and my All About The Love section in Inner Child The Magazine. You can also get to read some of my most recent poetry compositions along with poem collaborations with fellow foreign poets and my own quotes that have appeared on my Goodreads Author Page
